SECOND CLASS RANK
These questions are suggestions of what you can ask the Scout. Remember you
are trying to get to know the Scout and see how he is doing as an individual
on his Scouting advancement. REMEMBER To let the Scout know that you are all
on his side and you each want to see him advance.
- Since becoming a Tenderfoot Scout has scouting become easier or harder for
you?
- What part of the Scout Law is hardest for you? Why? BSH page 9
- The Scout Oath states "to do my duty to God and my country" what
does that mean to you? BSH page 45
- A requirement for Second Class Scout is to, take a 5 mile hike (or 10 miles
by bike) using a map and a compass. Where did you go? Was it fun, easy, hard,
interesting?
- A requirement for this rank is to participate in five separate troop/patrol
activities (other then troop/patrol meetings), two of which included camping
overnight. Ask the Scout about these activities.
- Did you help your patrol on a camp out to find a suitable campsite? Where?
- Did you pitch your own tent and sleep in it? Was that fun?
- By using this map and compass will you please show us how to orient the
map? (Make sure one of the adults on the board can do this correctly.) BSH
